Report: Mets Sign Free Agent LHP A.J. Minter to 2 year deal "Per Joel Sherman on X: the New York Mets have signed Veteran Free Agent LHP A.J. Minter for a reported two year $22 Million deal. Per Marc Feinsand on X: Deal includes an opt out after 2025."
Mike Puma NY Post: Mets sign reliever A.J. Minter for $22 million with Pete Alonso on the way out. "Minter, 31, pitched to a 2.62 ERA in 39 appearances with the Braves, for whom he has spent his entire eight-year career. Minter will provide an intriguing crossover option as somebody who can handle lefties and righties...Minter underwent August surgery to repair a labrum tear in his left hip. A hip impingement and lesion on his femur also were corrected."
Will Sammon The Athletic: Mets and reliever A.J. Minter agree on 2-year, $22 million deal: Sources. "Minter, 31, profiled as one of the better left-handed relievers in the free-agent market, fitting in somewhere in a tier below Tanner Scott, whom Mets officials previously met with. With Scott projected to net a three- or four-year deal as likely the most expensive lefty bullpen option in free agency, several teams steered their attention toward Minter, league sources said. Thus, it came as little surprise that Minter landed a multiyear deal." (Subscription Required)
Mike Puma NY Post: Mets have faith in Mark Vientos filling potential Pete Alonso void at first base. "The Mets’ decision in recent days to move away from a reunion with Pete Alonso, after the slugging first baseman rejected the team’s last offer — a three-year deal in the $68 million to $70 million range, according to The Post’s Joel Sherman — has left Vientos as a prime candidate for a move across the infield this season...'He wasn’t very good at first base,' a scout from a National League team said Friday. 'But I thought he had a chance to be better there than at third.'”
